Playing a musical instrument for the first time can be incredibly hard. It’s almost like speaking a different language as you have to learn to read notes and figure out the differences in clefs and chords. Fortunately, guitar is a simple instrument to learn and to play. It is a fascinating instrument. It is said to be the simplest to learn the basics on and most difficult to become and expert at. Although learning guitar may seem rough at first, it does improve quickly if you learn ways to make the process simple.

Although one could technically teach themselves to learn to play guitar songs for example, it is always much better to receive formal instruction. The teacher will set the pace for the player, making the whole process much simpler. A teacher can see mistakes in time to correct them. This instant attention prevents the players from accidentally starting a bad habit. Teachers add a personal opinion and touch to learning the guitar, guiding the students in the right direction.

The most important thing about learning to play guitar is practicing. One should aim for practicing every day for at least 15-30 minutes. One can never practice too much! If practice begins to get boring, listen to your favorite guitar songs and remind yourself why you wanted to play in the first place. Try to practice the more difficult songs and chords at the beginning of practice, before your mind is worn out. After you tire of that, then play the songs you really enjoy as a reward to a job well done.

Throw yourself fully into the world of the guitar. Find other good guitarist and become students of their methods. Don’t trust the random people who put their guitar playing up on the internet for the world see. A better idea is to find live recordings of concerts and watch them, learning from their guitarist.

Practically, there are several excellent tips on how to play guitar tabs for beginning guitarists. When learning, try to learn all the basic major chords. This will stretch out your muscles as well as develop muscle memory. Once you have those down, practice switching quickly between chords. Switch most the chord positions you find most difficult.

Playing songs that you like and strumming along is an excellent idea. Try to match the drumbeat. Hit the lower strings if you are playing with bass drums and the higher strings for playing the snare drum.

Be careful not to cram in too much at once. It can be very exciting to be learning guitar and playing exciting songs, however, trying to learn too much at once can end up being discouraging. Revealed The Secrets To Playing Guitar

7th March

If you have ever wanted to play a musical instrument of some sort yet somehow never managed to find the time, and the guitar is the instrument you long to play, then you are not alone.  Thankfully, learning to play the guitar is actually not that difficult once you understand how a guitar works and can get to grips with the way guitar music is written.

There are two choices of guitar, the acoustic guitar and the electric guitar, and beginning guitar lessons with either starts off in exactly the same way.

Obviously you need to start by getting a guitar to learn on.  An older acoustic one can be fairly cheap and is equally suited to those who will switch to an electric guitar once they have picked up the basics.  Before you can even think about actually playing your guitar, you should spend time practicing holding this new instrument as initially it could feel quite strange.  They are bulkier than you may think, and it is important that you hold it regularly so that you feel natural holding it and not awkward in anyway.

The next step is to learn the notes of each string. There are 6 of them, all of which when playing with other people would need to be tuned, so learning how to tune your guitar is a good step too, as is overall familiarization of your instrument.  Put your guitar face up on your lap so that you can learn the order of the strings.  The furthest string from you is called E and so is the string nearest to you, just that they are an octave apart.

This is high E and the string nearest you is low E, and from high E moving towards you the strings are as follows – high E A D G B E (low).

When learning the guitar, you will learn guitar scales and chords, which you create with the fingers on your left hand holding down different strings at specific points on the fret board, which is what we call the divisions on the neck.

A tab is the proper name for guitar music, and is a graphical form of music, where six lines have been drawn to show each of the strings. A number is printed on each line and this shows you at which you need to be holding the string – so 2 on the top line means you should be holding the high E at the 2nd fret.  You need to spend time looking at a guitar tab and thinking about how they are written until reading them becomes second nature.

When a tab shows numbers side by side, it means to play one string after another to produce a single note.  When numbers appear stacked one on top of another, you are being shown a chord and you need to hold all strings down as shown at the frets it indicates. By doing this you will create a chord.

The best thing you can do to learn the guitar is to take time to practice, and try and make time to play every day.  Learning to play any instrument isn’t instant, but if you practice regularly you will start to hear improvements for yourself and this is very uplifting.

If you are really struggling, take a break and do something else for a few hours and come back to your guitar later. If you stay calm and persevere you will find that you start to make real progress.  Treat yourself to music you like listening to and want to play as you need to enjoy the learning process not dread it.
