My teacher assigned a project today that involves my group and I creating a play. I chose to group up with Larry, Linda, and Sean. Linda’s dad had some left over Greek costumes so we thought it would be a good idea to create a Greek play. We thought we would have a problem with one of the costumes since it was stained, but we decided to pass it off as a blood stain. Linda’s dad has given us permission to use his set of four Greek armors that consist of breast plates and Greek helmets. He has some weapons to go along with them, but will not let us use them. His philosophy is that the school would not like us to take weapons into the building. We will be taping old paper towel rolls together to make fake swords to spar with to get around this. The paper towels rolls will need to be painted so that they look a little more authentic. I don’t think the teacher will like it if we just jab at each other with paper towel rolls.

The theme of the fight scene is going to be betrayal. The play will start with one warrior abandoning a battle and three comrades attempting to stop him. They will get into an argument and then will begin to do battle. During the battle the main character will have his Greek helmet knocked off of his head.

Upon the helmet hitting the ground, the actors will begin to talk once more. They will beg him to return to the army so that they will not have to kill him. He will refuse because he will be against what the army stands for. The play will end as a tragedy because the main character will be killed by his three comrades. Tragedies tend to be the most emotional types of plays and we think this will help us with our grade. I’m hoping that all of our planning will get us a good grade.
