Learn how to play drums to “Rock n Roll Train” by AC/DC (done on a Roland electronic kit) – PEYTS / PEYTS69
I made this tutorial video after I had a bunch of people, who watched my drum cover music video of “Rock n Roll Train”, ask me how to play the song or for tips on playing the song.
One caveat: this is MY version of the song, so I don’t need to hear from people giving me advice about how the song is exactly supposed to be played. This is how I play the song. As such, though, it is pretty close to the original version.
I’ve been playing drums for about 6 months now (this video was shot on 2008-09-27). Here I am playing in my basement on a Roland electronic kit (TD3-KWS); external sound through a Tapco mixer and Tapco self-powered PA speaker, though I have sound on this one being plugged directly into my computer.
Check out my other drumming videos as well! To find them, just take a look at my YouTube channel: Peyts69!
Cheers!

yeah you should really make more cover with steps like first step do this riff then you tell us how to do a riff then next you say, we then play this riff and you teach us that riff, for an example search this vid to youtube “Intermidiate Drum Fills” with mike johnston. Next vid should have steps.

Though Brian Johnson is actually singing “Runaway Train” in the chorus, the title of the song is actually “Rock N Roll Train”.

Thanks, dizzyd1250! I appreciate the vote of confidence for the contest! I actually did a straight-up drum cover of the song and submitted it for the ACDCGiveItAllYouGot contest… but a couple of weeks later, Sony Music claimed a copyright infringement on it, so YouTube removed my video. Shitty deal, dude.
Anyway, thanks again for checking out the video and for leaving a comment.
Cheers!

Thanks, lutis19! I really appreciate the comment.
I’ll try to do more “how to” videos for drum covers… just been busy learning new tunes and a setlist for a band I’m jamming with. Will get more done as soon as I can.
Cheers!

Yeah, I’m aware of that, pedrofbf…
It is a kit I created in the brain of the unit. I use the two crash symbols because it gives me a variety of things to hit… and why not use both of them instead of having one symbol set as a ride, but never use the ride throughout the song? I MUCH prefer having the extra crash when I don’t need a ride.

… you have the same sound on both cymbals…

I have created my own kits via the brain of this set… I don’t use the ride alot, other than the inside portion of the ride for that tinging-kind of sound.
As the cymbals are dual-zone, I made my right cymbal as a second crash, with the inside portion of the cymbal set as the inside portion of the ride… that way I get the best of both, so to speak.
Cheers!
