Learn To Play Drums | Do Not Get Discouraged

28th November

I remember when I was first learning to play the drums how frustrated I got when I couldn’t master a technique or some rhythm pattern that I had heard. My sage advice – don’t sweat it; you’re just learning. Learning to play the drums is extremely frustrating if you have never played drums before. But don’t quit! Never, never, never quit! You will learn to play if you keep on going and thumpin’ out the tunes.

Don’t try to compare yourself to other people either. You’ll have your own style, technique all your own, and you’ll learn at your pace. Just because it seems like someone else is learning faster than you are, that’s no reason to stop what you’re doing. Be patient and give yourself the time to learn. Learning to play any instrument just takes time, but it’s so worth it if you stick to it.

Here’s four main things you should keep in mind when learning to play the drums.

1. Be Patient! Nobody is perfect overnight. Like all musical instruments (or sports, or other hobbies) it takes time to develop some skills. You’ll get the chops, but you’ve got to work on it. Remember that everything that you take for granted today was at one time a learned skill. You couldn’t do squat when you’re a baby J I’m sure it was frustrating trying to learn to ride a bike for the first time, but you got over your frustration.

2. Practice, Practice, Practice, dude!

All the skills that are required to be a good drummer will only come with lots of practice. Not just any practice, but like one of my instructors said, “perfect practice makes perfect.” So you have to make your practices count and try to practice at the best level you can always trying to play the lesson as perfect as possible. Good drummers require a lot of coordination, timing and a basic ear for the beat of the music.

Now you don’t have to play your lesson perfectly the first time, practice a little at a time, and if you feel you’re just not getting it, put the drumsticks down and come back later to try it once more. So don’t just thump around to say you put your practice time in, make sure you’re doing your learning with the goal of doing it as perfect as you possibly can.

3. Don’t Compare Yourself!

Just don’t do this. My dad always told me, “son, you’ve got talent, so just play the best that you can. Don’t worry about anyone else. There’s always somebody who is taller, looks better, runs faster, and yes, plays the drums better. But you just have to be yourself.” I’ve followed that advice, and now I enjoy watching, talking and learning from other drummers who I admire and admit have better skills or techniques than I do.

But that doesn’t stop me from playing my style and adding my beat for the music world to hear.

4. You’ve got to love it!

I play the drums because I love it. My music is a place where I can go and be myself and contribute to the music world. If you want to be a drummer, then keep your dream alive and in front of you. Get some posters, photos, etc. of your favorite drummers, and that will remind you of where you’re headed. There’s always roadblocks, but like anything in life, you find a way around them.

Life will try to get in your way of learning the drums, but in time you’ll figure out a way to get the job done if you love it enough.

So get out there and practice and play with passion!

When is it time for Marriage Counseling?

3rd July

After a couple says “I do” in a perfect word, they live happily ever after. Unfortunately, this is not a perfect world we live in. And a lot of times, after the wedding day, that is when trouble happens.

Whatever the cause, the couple’s happy and blissful relationship all of a sudden turns cold and bitter.

In this article, I am going to draw on my experience as a family counselor San Diego to help a couple decide, when is it time for a couple to seek marriage counseling.

Arguments, disagreements, and fights do happen.  It is bound to happen in most marriages. But there is a time when the couple needs to look at whether or not this is normal or part of everyday life.  Or if is too much and time to seek help.

Because a problem in a marriage, left unchecked, could one day lead to a horrible divorce.

So for couples seeking to keep their marriage, here are some key signs to look for and decide if marriage counseling San Diego is needed.

The first sign is bickering, do you guys bicker a lot?  Do little things cause you guys to argue? Allthough seemingly no big deal, this could be the beginning of trouble starting.

Second, do you find you don’t have anything nice to say about each other? This is a sign that you guys are holding contempt towards each other and this is not good.

A third thing is do you find that your level of respect for each other is not there? In all relationships, there must be a level of respect.

Fourth sign, do you see that intimacy is lost between the two of you?  This is not just for sex, although this is part of it.Does is seem like the two of you aren’t as close as you once were?

Fifth, do you find you are happier when you and your spouse are apart? This is not good and a sign of the start of seperation.

Sixth thing to examine is there a loss of trust between the two of you? One of the most important things for a married couple is trust. When your most intimate moments are going to be lived and shared with, there has to be trust.

Finally, has there been unfaithfulness between one of you?To most it seems simple enough and obvious.  But sometimes when this happens, couples could just try to ignore it rather than deal with it.

Of course there a lot of other signs to look for.  But these are some big ones when deciding if it is time to seek a marriage counselor in San Diego

If these are some of the things you are experiencing, and to find a way to save your marriage is your goal.  You need to seek professional help to try and work out these problems.

A lot of times, a third viewpoint is very helpful for the situation, and this is why a family counselor can help.

A Few Dollar Coins Are Always Worth Adding To Your Coin Collection

1st July

When it concerns dollar coin collecting there are so many options available that you would be hard pressed to identify the better dollar coins that are worth collecting. For one, the Flowing Hair Dollar, an original and silver dollar that was made in only the second year after the start of US Mint operations was available in limited numbers with them being produced only for a couple of years and which totaled about one hundred and sixty-two thousand coins in all. It was later replaced with the Bust Dollar that was minted in the middle of 1795. However, the Flowing Hair Dollar is one of the coveted pieces and hence commands a very good price.

Dollar Coin Collecting: Draped Dollar

The Draped Dollar that was minted between 1795 and 1803 had a number of varieties as well as errors in them and it is also a dollar coin that is worthy of being added to any dollar coin collection. In 1803 the last batch was rolled out and these are the only 19570 coins that are now circulating or are part of collections. The salient point about this dollar coin is that it is considered as being the most important of all dollar coins ever minted.

The popularity of the Draped Dollar cannot be denied though this popularity has led to many copies being made of it, most notably in China and so if you are considering buying these and adding them to dollar coin collections then you should only buy them from reputable and recognized coin dealers.

Another useful dollar coin that lends it well to dollar coin collecting is the Gobrecht Dollar that was minted after the 1831 exit of silver dollar coins. This is an expensive dollar coin, especially the 1836 version.

The Seated Liberty dollar coins are more in number than the Gobrecht Dollar and these 1840 born coins are worth in your collection. The Seated Liberty Dollar remained in existence till the year 1853 after which this dollar coin was used for trading with China and then the minting of this coin was finally stopped in the year 1870.

The US Congress found it appropriate to mint coins that commemorated each US President as well as their spouses. So, when it comes to Presidential dollar coin collecting, you need to be on your toes to ensure that you are able to purchase one or all or some of the four different Presidential Dollar designs that are being minted each year and through till the year 2016. These Presidential Dollar coins are only being minted in limited numbers and each will come out in intervals of thirteen weeks.

However if you are coin collection enthusiast then you may opt for Mexican coin collecting, Canadian coin collecting or even any foreign coin collecting adventure in addition to Dollar Coin Collecting.

Ben 10 Alien Force the game is insipired by Cartoon Network’s television programme. The game starts five years after Ben put away the DNA-scrambling Omnitrix, but now Grandpa Max has disappeared and the planet Earth is in need of help. Gamers must aid Ben by taking the Omnitrix out of retirement and lead eight different playable characters - including cousin Gwen, enemy-turned-ally Kevin Levin and five of Ben’s brand new alien forms - Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey and Big Chill - to utilize their all-new super powers and defeat the intergalactic invaders! Its very addictive.
